A handmade lure can cost more than an off-the-shelf alternative. The fair question is what you get for the difference.
At JSL, the answer starts with how the lure is designed and built. The value is in that particular design and the work behind it.
What handmade means at JSL
The Suave starts as a designed and printed body. A stainless-steel throughplate is enclosed during the print, then the body is prepared, filled and sanded before hand painting and epoxy finishing in Melbourne.
Printing is part of the process. So is the work that follows it. Calling the lure handmade should explain those stages clearly, rather than leave you guessing whether it was carved, moulded or printed.
Look past the paint
A finish is easy to compare in a photograph. The construction and action deserve the same attention.
Before buying any premium lure, ask:
- What connects the line tie to the hook attachments?
- Can I see how the lure actually swims?
- Does its casting weight suit my rod?
- What hardware is supplied, and what do I need to fit?
- Can I contact the maker with a specific question?
Those questions tell you more than a list of adjectives about quality.
What the throughplate does

That continuous connection is part of the design. A fishing setup still includes hooks, rings, knots and line, and all of it needs to suit the job.
Is a handmade lure worth it for you?
It can be if you value the particular design, the finish, the construction and buying from the person making it. If you only want the least expensive way to get a lure in the water, handmade may not be your first choice.
You should still expect clear product information. With JSL, check your chosen Suave’s dimensions, approximate weight and current availability before ordering. Hooks are not included.
